Dr. Greg’s Rider for Speaking Events

These are Dr. Greg’s terms and some best practices—applicable when Greg is your featured speaker.

Thank you so much for having me as your speaker. I am excited to work with your team. I have had a chance to figure out what works best for my presentation so that I can be of greatest service for your people. Here are my suggestions for how to make the event a success. I look forward to working to make your event fun, memorable and impactful. - Greg

Here’s how to get the most when you have Dr. Wells as your speaker.

Audio Visual

  • Greg uses his laptop (MacBook Pro) and a remote control that he brings with him. He has his own VGA and HDMI adapters, just in case. His presentation does not run on any computer but his.

  • No sound out required. AC power should be within six feet of the computer.

  • His computer needs to be at the front of the room with him, where he can access it to be most nimble. He often pulls up examples to share when his audience asks questions, or hops to areas of greatest interest to keep the room energized.

  • For groups of more than 25 people, he needs a wireless lavalier microphone. He just can’t be as smooth with a wired, handheld, and won’t use a podium microphone.

  • Greg loves to cooperate with your team on a tech check, preferably 20-30 minutes before he goes on stage. Or in the morning if Greg has flown in the day before the event.

Scheduling and Logistics

  • To create some anticipation for the session and to allow for AV setup and testing (discussed above) it’s best to schedule a break before Greg takes the stage.

  • Also consider scheduling a break right after Greg’s presentation. It helps facilitate that high-energy scrum at the front of the room for people who want to say “hey,” ask questions, and share their epiphanies. Plus, you get break-time conversation for people to discuss what they just learned.

  • Because he never wants to let you down as a result of wonky airline performance, Greg prefers to arrive the night before. Please arrange or recommend a hotel that’s either at the venue or closer to the airport than the venue itself. He’ll need a nonsmoking room.

  • Greg would enjoy meeting with your executives prior to his speech. Dinner the night before is nice if travel permits. This interaction is helpful for personalizing the presentation for your group.

Slides and Handouts

  • Greg makes his slides available for download as a PDF (9 slides / page) for the audience members via a link on his website. This link will be shown on the final slide of the presentation.

  • Greg owns and retains all rights to his materials and content. They cannot be reproduced or distributed.

Presentation Recording

  • Greg is OK with clients recording the presentation for internal use for a period of 30 days after the session. The recording can only be posted on the company intranet and must not be visible on the open internet. Greg appreciates receiving a copy of the video file.
