Glad To Be Here: How to bring the power of gratitude to your life.

John Foley has been to the limits of human performance.

What would your life be like if you could feel like you feel like you are Glad To Be Here in all parts of your life today?

In this conversation, US Navy Blue Angels Lead Solo Pilot John “Gucci” Foley joins Dr. Greg to talk about The Power of Gratitude and the Glad To Be Here philosophy.

We learn how the Blue Angels team practice gratitude as a tool to elevate their performance and teamwork. The Glad To Be Here philosophy grounds them in psychological safety and helps them get better every day.

You will learn how to elevate your mindset, create a culture of excellence and build trust with people around you.

We will discover the keys to practicing gratitude even in high-pressure situations and why the Glad To Be Here attitude is essential for helping you to get mentally healthy and achieve your goals fast so you can live a limitless life along with those around you.

If you want to elevate your performance and the performance of your team, then this is the episode that you need to listen to.

Because gratitude is something we can do every day to make our lives better and Gucci will show us the way.

Key take aways:

  1. Gratitude helps you accept constructive feedback.

  2. The best teams practice gratitude to elevate their performance.

  3. Gratitude can make hard things so much easier.

  4. Elite performance becomes possible when you connect the heart and the head.

  5. We are all hard-wired for the pursuit of Purpose, Meaning and Significance.

You need to have the mindset first. I call that mindset ‘Glad to be here,’ which is the ethos of being grateful and appreciative to have the opportunity. But also to bring in your operational excellence. You’ve got to earn the right to be there every single day.

Today’s Expert Guest - John Foley

John Foley's personal path to high performance began as a child when he stood alongside his father at an air show featuring the Blue Angels. From that moment John knew that someday he'd be carving up the skies as a member of the Blues.

Eventually he lived that dream. But getting there wasn't easy. In fact, John's journey from an awestruck child at an air show to the cockpit of the Blue Angels F-18 Hornet - one of my favorite planes - is a study in persistence, hard work and the will to overcome obstacles and setbacks.

John graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a degree in mechanical engineering. John was a top 10 carrier pilot six times before becoming a Marine instructor pilot and a Blue Angel.

He holds a Master’s degree in Business Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business where he's a Sloan Fellow and he has an International Policy Studies degree also from Stanford University and he has a degree in strategic studies from the Naval War College.
